With much of New Hampshire at or nearing peak foliage, state tourism officials are expecting a busy Columbus Day weekend.
The leaves are turning and camera-toting travelers are arriving as the approach of Columbus Day weekend signals the high point of the state’s second-busiest tourism season. This week has seen foliage at its most splendid throughout central New Hampshire, especially in the White Mountain region, with color peaking in southern New Hampshire this coming week.
The New Hampshire Liquor Commission said it would build a 12,000-square-foot Liquor & Wine near the Officer Jeremy Charron and Officer Michael Briggs Traffic Circle. The store is expected to open in one year, in September 2020.
The winner, who purchased the jackpot winning ticket at the Brookside Market & Deli in Exeter for the drawing on Tuesday, July 23, chose the one-time cash prize of $108.5 million. While New Hampshire has sold 11 Powerball jackpot winning tickets, this is New Hampshire’s first Mega Millions winner.
Gov. Chris Sununu paid a visit to Hazelton Orchards off Harantis Lake Road to help honor the beginning of the Granite State’s apple season and do the ceremonial “first pick” of the season.
